Nava has helped the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services launch the Technical Consolidation of the Electronic Data Interchange, or TCEDI, an application designed to route Medicare claims to the agency through a single system.
The effort to modernize the systems behind Medicare claims processing is among the priorities shaping federal health technology. The company said Tuesday the application supports CMS’ handling of more than 1 billion Medicare claims annually.
What Is TCEDI?
TCEDI is a CMS application that serves as the single point through which Medicare claims reach the agency’s systems. It replaces seven separate systems previously run by Medicare administrative contractors.
According to Nava, the application gives CMS greater visibility into claims processing, remittance advice, and eligibility inquiries and responses.
Rohan Bhobe, CEO and co-founder of Nava, said the move from seven systems to one gives CMS a standardized and more efficient approach to tracking claims throughout the entire process.
“It’s the kind of foundational work that keeps Medicare running for the millions of people who depend on it,” Bhobe added.
What Is Nava?
Nava is a public benefit corporation that works to improve how government services are delivered to the public. The company has partnered with CMS since 2015 on Medicare modernization efforts, including care coordination and payment system projects.
Nava has also helped CMS migrate systems to cloud environments and supports Care Compare, the agency’s website that allows Medicare beneficiaries to evaluate providers based on quality. The company said its work helps nearly 70 million Medicare beneficiaries access preventive care.
What Contracts, Acquisitions & Appointments Has Nava Announced?
Nava’s support for the TCEDI launch follows its Department of Health and Human Services contract to develop a new grants management system replacing GrantSolutions.gov, which supports over 1,500 federal grant programs. The company won a three-year prime contract to modernize the enterprise development tools the Securities and Exchange Commission uses across operations, training and governance functions.
Nava later earned a spot on NASA’s 10-year Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement VI contract to provide federal agencies with cloud, cybersecurity, AI and software engineering capabilities.
Beyond contract wins, the company expanded its benefits delivery capabilities by acquiring Beam, a cloud-based platform that has disbursed over $400 million to over 300,000 recipients across 39 states, and plans to integrate it into its open-source Strata tool suite.
On the leadership front, Nava appointed Kelly Feeney to the newly created role of vice president of operations and automation and named Scott McKimmy executive VP of program delivery to set performance standards across its federal and state portfolios.
