The U.S. Air Force has expanded its contract with Virtualitics for an automated planning capability, making the technology available across all service major commands, or MAJCOMs. The Pasadena, California-based mission readiness company said Tuesday the expanded Automated Master Storage Planning, or A-MSP, contract extends a capability first deployed within Air Force Global Strike Command and subsequently used across seven MAJCOMs.

The expanded contract adds enterprise-level functions for assessing munitions storage capacity, including command dashboards, three-dimensional visualization and artificial intelligence-enabled data analysis.

What Capabilities Does the Expanded A-MSP Contract Add?

The contract introduces tools that give MAJCOM leaders visibility into storage utilization, capacity and constraints at installations. Interactive 3D visualization and volumetric analysis will support storage planning and facility utilization assessments.

The expanded offering also includes Virtualitics Iris, an AI-native integration that works to enable users to query operational data and generate insights. The platform combines generative AI and AI agents into a single, intuitive interface to help defense leaders and operators use and communicate insights and make mission-critical decisions faster.

Enterprise-level planning and analysis capabilities will help leaders evaluate future storage requirements and inventory growth across the Air Force.

A-MSP is part of Virtualitics’ Readiness AI offerings, which support decisions involving storage planning, material movement and logistics operations. The technology was developed to replace older planning methods based on spreadsheets, graph paper and hand calculations.

How Has A-MSP Supported Air Force Munitions Readiness?

Virtualitics said hundreds of Air Force personnel across seven MAJCOMs have used A-MSP, which has cut planning time by 70 percent. The company estimated that automating the process also frees up more than 50,000 hours previously spent on manual work each year.

Air Combat Command used A-MSP to determine whether existing facilities could accommodate storage requirements before pursuing new construction. The assessment identified approximately $22 million in potential cost avoidance and helped inform infrastructure investment decisions.

The capability has also supported preparations for major munitions movements and contingency planning in multiple theaters, according to Virtualitics.

Chief Commercial Officer Rob Bocek said A-MSP gives decision-makers information about available storage space and movement options in seconds, replacing processes that previously required manual analysis and more time.

The servicewide expansion builds on an October 2025 renewal from AFGSC that broadened A-MSP’s capabilities to support the storage and mobilization of critical munitions.

What Other Defense AI Work Has Virtualitics Pursued?

Virtualitics describes itself as a provider of AI technology for mission readiness. Beyond the A-MSP contract, the company also renewed and expanded its contract with the Marine Corps’ 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing in October. The renewal extends support to six MV-22 Osprey squadrons at Marine Corps Air Station New River, with a seventh slated to onboard after deployment. It also adds Iris capabilities such as live data feeds and AI-driven flight schedule generation.

Virtualitics received Impact Level 5 and Impact Level 6 authorities to operate for its AI-native readiness software. The IL5 approval allows Department of War users to apply the company’s tools to controlled unclassified information, while IL6 clears their use with classified information on secret-level networks.

In May, the company announced a strategic memorandum of understanding with OpenAI to work with customers on decision intelligence for complex, critical workloads. Under the agreement, Virtualitics will integrate OpenAI‘s frontier AI models into Iris to strengthen how the tool analyzes personnel, sustainment and materiel data linked to mission readiness.
