Everforth ECS has announced a three-year expansion of its sole-source indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, carrying a $148 million ceiling, to support the Secure Unclassified Network, or SUNet, for the Department of War’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office. The federal arm of Everforth said it also earned a commercial solutions opening to research and build prototypes for SUNet 2.0.
What Will Everforth ECS Do Under the SUNet Awards?
The expansion keeps Everforth ECS responsible for operating and maintaining the existing network while it helps migrate mission capabilities to a future SUNet architecture. Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, booked the $147.8 million cost-plus-fixed-fee award in August after receiving a single bid.
The prototyping effort is being conducted for CDAO and the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering. It targets a secure sandbox where DOW organizations and mission partners can build, test and validate emerging AI and machine learning tools. Zero trust controls, hybrid cloud and updated data management are under evaluation to shorten user onboarding and speed fielding. In July, the department separately awarded Sigma Defense an other transaction agreement to deliver a SUNet 2.0 minimum viable product.
“While we continue to keep SUNet secure and responsive to the mission, we will also help transition to what comes next,” said Everforth ECS President Donnie Scott.
How Long Has Everforth ECS Supported SUNet?
According to the company, its SUNet involvement spans more than 10 years. Everforth ECS, then known as ECS Federal, won a roughly $112.4 million SUNet contract in 2019 and an $87 million integration modification in 2021.
Brian Orsi, who leads the CDAO account at Everforth ECS, said that history informs the modernization. “Our many years supporting SUNet have taught us our users’ challenges, what they’re constrained by, and what actually moves their mission forward,” he said.
What Other Recent Contracts Has Everforth ECS Won?
In July, the Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Army Research Laboratory awarded the company a three-year, $115 million contract supporting the Nautilus AI research program. Earlier in September, Everforth ECS captured a spot and the first task order on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s $58 million data solutions blanket purchase agreement.
The company provides AI, cybersecurity, digital engineering and enterprise modernization services. It adopted the Everforth ECS name in April after parent ASGN rebranded as Everforth.
