Trout Software has partnered with Carahsoft Technology to make the Trout Access Gate on-premise, plug-and-play appliance available to public sector customers seeking to secure legacy industrial systems using a zero trust approach.

Carahsoft said Tuesday it will serve as Trout Software’s Master Government Aggregator, offering the cybersecurity product through its reseller partners and contract vehicles such as NASA Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement V, OMNIA Partners, The Interlocal Purchasing System, E&I Cooperative Services Contract and The Quilt.

The Potomac Officers Club’s 2026 Cyber Summit on May 21 will feature discussions on evolving cyberthreats and federal efforts to strengthen security across government systems. Register now to hear insights from public- and private-sector leaders.

What Will the Carahsoft-Trout Partnership Provide to Government Customers?

The partnership is intended to help agencies strengthen cybersecurity for operational technology and legacy equipment that cannot be patched or migrated to the cloud, said Florian Doumenc, CEO of Trout Software.

Trout Access Gate is designed to deploy as a security proxy placed in front of critical infrastructure assets, enabling zero trust access without requiring a major network redesign or equipment replacement.

How Does Trout Access Gate Apply Zero Trust to OT and Legacy Systems?

Trout Software said Trout Access Gate provides a single appliance per site that can support OT and legacy environments such as programmable logic controllers, supervisory control and data acquisition servers, building automation systems, sensors, cameras and industrial controllers.

Besides zero trust access controls, the product offers network cloaking, microsegmentation, secure remote operations, protocol filtering, audit visibility and safeguards aligned with the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification and National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-171 requirements.

How Does This Fit Into Carahsoft’s Broader Zero Trust Strategy?

Alex Whitworth, sales director at Carahsoft, said the addition of Trout Software to Carahsoft’s portfolio expands his company’s ability to help government and defense customers modernize security for on-premises and OT environments with minimal disruption.

“As cyber threats increasingly target legacy systems and critical infrastructure, Trout’s on-premise Zero Trust overlay delivers a critical capability for our Government and DIB customers, particularly as they work toward NIST 800-171 and CMMC compliance,” he noted.

The partnership aligns with Carahsoft’s recent zero trust-related efforts, including agreements to expand access to platforms supporting microsegmentation, compliance modernization and secure procurement pathways for government agencies.
