George Moutafis Rejoins Fincantieri Marine Group as CEO

Fincantieri Marine Group has named George Moutafis as its CEO.
George Moutafis has been appointed as Fincantieri Marine Group's CEO.

George Moutafis has been named CEO of Fincantieri Marine Group, or FMG, the U.S. subsidiary of shipbuilding company Fincantieri. Moutafis’ appointment went into effect on July 1, Fincantieri announced Thursday.

Moutafis said on LinkedIn that he was thrilled to have been chosen as FMG chief executive.

“I am honored to lead our dedicated team towards a bold vision: Strengthening our nation’s naval edge through world-class shipbuilding, unwavering support to our U.S. DOD and DHS fleets, and a relentless pursuit of innovation that can ignite a true renaissance in [the] American maritime industry,” he added.

Who Is George Moutafis?

Moutafis brings over 25 years of experience in shipbuilding, defense, telecom, retail, oil and gas and consulting. Moutafis’ term as FMG CEO marks his return to the company, where he previously worked from 2013 through 2023, latterly serving as chief strategy and transformation officer.

He then moved to Beretta USA, where he initially served as deputy general manager and vice president of product service excellence. He next took on the roles of general manager and chief operating officer, which he would hold until his appointment as leader of FMG.
