Allied warfighters at the Olympus Fires 2026 exercise in the Pacific have tested Vion, General Dynamics Information Technology‘s newly developed mission partner environment, or MPE, kit. They used the mobile system to establish secure communications with allied forces in disconnected settings within hours, the company said Thursday.

What Is the Olympus Fires Military Exercise?

Olympus Fires gathers troops from allied countries to validate MPEs, which are geared for the Department of War and its partners to exchange information across classification levels in contested settings. Brian Sheridan, GDIT’s senior vice president for defense, said the ability to fight alongside allies “securely and in real time” is “decisive to mission success.”

What Can Warfighters Do With GDIT’s Vion Kit?

Vion’s features include AI-driven live translation, chat, email, voice and video tools. It also comes with software development capabilities backed by AI, as well as zero trust cybersecurity.

“Through this portable kit, mission operations that would normally take several days can now be deployed in hours,” Sheridan said.

How Has GDIT Used Military Exercises to Test DOGMA and Vion?

At Olympus Fires, GDIT linked Vion to its Defense Operations Grid-Mesh Accelerator, or DOGMA, merging sensor feeds from several mission partners into one analytics interface. “DOGMA will enable operators to act on information faster, anticipate emerging threats and maintain decision advantage,” Sheridan said.

The company previously showcased an adapted DOGMA for aerial threat detection at Cyber Fortress 2025 and a cloud-in-a-box at Mobility Guardian 2025.

The Vion demo aligns with GDIT’s VIA strategy. GDIT President Amy Gilliland, a 2026 Wash100 awardee, said the strategy “reinforces our long-standing commitment to invest in proven mission solutions to meet the government’s most pressing challenges now and in the future.”
