Boeing and Anduril Rocket Motor Systems have teamed up to provide the U.S. Army with a system capable of countering low-flying, mid-range, airborne threats.
How Will the Boeing-Anduril Team Support the Army Interceptor Program?
Boeing said Thursday that Anduril will supply solid rocket motors for the Army’s Integrated Fires Protection Capability, or IFPC, Increment 2 Second Interceptor competition.

“This partnership underscores our commitment to forming innovative, disruptive and agile industry teams that deliver new capabilities to warfighters sooner,” Bob Ciesla, vice president at Boeing Precision Engagement Systems, stated. “We’re confident that this partnership will result in a novel solution that helps meet the Army’s evolving air defense needs.”
Boeing secured an Other Transaction Authority Project Agreement in early December for the development of the medium-range interceptor.
What is the IFPC Program?
The Army issued a request for information for the IFPC Second Interceptor program in January 2024. In the notice, the Army said the interceptor must have an open system architecture with a larger magazine capacity compared to its first interceptor. The interceptor must also deliver effects against subsonic and supersonic cruise missiles and other targets.
Who Are Competing in IFPC?
Aside from Boeing, Lockheed Martin, with its partner AeroVironment, and RTX subsidiary Raytheon, which has partnered with Rafael, are also developing interceptors for the Army.
Lockheed also secured an OTA from the Army under IFPC in October.
Meanwhile, Raytheon and Rafael are offering SkyHunter, a variant of the Israeli Tamir interceptor used in the Iron Dome.
The Army is expected to choose which companies will move forward to the next stage of the competition in 2026.
