  • Serco has supported the CPMod program since 2019
  • The company expects to hire more than 200 people for the work
  • The task order was issued under the Army’s $37.4 billion RS3 contract vehicle

Serco will install command and control systems on U.S. Army tactical vehicles and help field modernized command posts to operational units under a new task order for the service’s Command Post Modernization program, the company said Tuesday.

The award extends Serco’s work on CPMod, which dates to 2019, and the company expects to hire more than 200 people to staff the effort. Serco did not disclose the value or length of the task order, which was issued through the Army’s Responsive Strategic Sourcing for Services, or RS3, contract vehicle.

What Is CPMod?

CPMod is the Army’s effort to develop and integrate survivable command posts for its tactical formations. According to Serco, these command posts work to support of joint operations and ultimately enable multi-domain operations.

“The U.S. Army is transforming how commanders operate on today’s battlefield,” said Amanda Miller, vice president for Serco North America’s systems integration and installation portfolio.

How Will Serco Support the Program?

Work on the task order includes software and hardware integration onto tactical vehicles. The company will also fabricate and install A-kits, the base infrastructure for mission equipment, and integrate command post hardware and software onto tactical vehicle platforms. It will then test and validate the integrated systems.

Beyond the vehicle work, Serco will handle logistics and fielding activities as the Army extends the modernized command posts to more of its operational formations. The task order also covers program management, engineering, training and sustainment.

How Does the RS3 Contract Work?

Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground manages RS3, a governmentwide, multiple-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a $37.4 billion ceiling. The vehicle has a 10-year ordering period split into a five-year base and a five-year option, and its task orders can run for as long as five years.

Agencies can use RS3 to buy services in five main areas: engineering; research, development, test and evaluation; logistics; acquisition and strategic planning; and education and training.

The vehicle has been a recurring route for Army command, control and sensor support work. Parsons received an $81 million RS3 task order in September 2025 to perform systems engineering for the Army’s aerial and ground radars over a one-year base period and four option years. The company had earlier booked a potential three-year, $48 million RS3 task order in February 2024 for software supporting command and control applications in the Army Common Operating Environment.

In March 2023, the Aberdeen Proving Ground contracting office also said it intended to combine programmatic and systems engineering and technical assistance services for the Project Manager Tactical Network into a single, five-year RS3 task order.

What Other Army Contracts Has Serco Received?

CPMod joins several other Army programs on Serco’s books. In May, the company won a five-year, $90 million contract for the Planning Programming Budgeting Business Operating System, which supports development of the Army’s program objective memorandums. That work covers software development, systems engineering and cloud infrastructure, including maintenance of the Army Resources Cloud platform.

Serco has also received a potential $247 million Army contract for the Holistic Health and Fitness System and a $73 million Army global logistics contract.
