Amentum has opened a facility at the Catalyst Campus for Technology and Innovation in Colorado Springs, Colorado, expanding its presence in a corridor that includes Peterson and Schriever Space Force bases and the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, the company said Friday.

Amentum said the new site will support its work in missile defense, artificial intelligence, cyber operations and space mission support.

What Will the Catalyst Campus Facility Support?

According to Amentum, the facility is designed for secure, day-to-day work on sensitive defense and space programs and includes workspaces built for engineering, modernization and technology development.

Mark Walter, president of Amentum’s engineering and technology business, said the campus allows government, industry, technology and academic partners to work side by side on complex technical problems.

“What matters most isn’t simply being near critical missions—it’s bringing together the right people, in a secure, innovative setting, with the cutting-edge tools they need to rapidly turn ideas into operational capability,” Walter said.

What Is Catalyst Campus?

Catalyst Campus describes itself as an ecosystem that connects industry, small businesses, startups, workforce training and venture capital with the aerospace and defense sector. The organization operates locations in Colorado, Maryland and Utah, and its programs include the Catalyst Accelerator, Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer support, Air Force CyberWorx and Platform One.

“Catalyst Campus was created to connect organizations that might not otherwise work side by side and help move technology from concept to operations,” said Amy Abbott, the campus’ executive director.

What Other Facility Moves Has Amentum Made?

The Colorado Springs expansion follows the October opening of Amentum’s Global Nuclear headquarters in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The facility houses the company’s Nuclear Center of Excellence and employs more than 150 engineering, technology and advanced energy specialists.

In March, Amentum moved its Hawaii office from Aiea to a Honolulu facility four times larger to support U.S. Indo-Pacific Command operations. The new site includes a Center for Contested Logistics focused on supply chain challenges in modern warfare. Amentum had more than 1,000 employees across Hawaii as of March.

What Recent Awards Has Amentum Received?

The company has also booked several recent defense and energy awards. In July, it received a potential three-year, $85 million U.S. Navy contract to modernize spent fuel examination capabilities at the Naval Reactors Facility in Idaho, and was selected by the National Nuclear Security Administration to negotiate a lease for an AI data center and energy generation project at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina. In June, the General Services Administration awarded Amentum a $77 million contract to provide AI-enabled logistics support for military installations in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility.
