Serco Inc. recently announced having connected the Joint Simulation Environment, or JSE, with the Nellis Mission Operations Network, also known as NMON, as part of an effort to enhance training for the U.S. Air Force.

What Simulation and Training Systems Did Serco Inc. Link Together?

The company said Monday that it collaborated with the 31st Combat Training Squadron to link multiple simulation systems within the JSE and the Virtual Battlespace Environment, or VBE, and the Control and Reporting Center, or CRC, simulator via the NMON to provide the integrated training environment for Air Force pilots and Air Battle Manager/Control and Reporting Center Weapons School students. Learners underwent training using the connected system from late July through August.

The Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis plans to extend the capability to additional training systems.

Commenting on the effort, Serco Inc. Vice President of Immersive Mission Training and Solutions Gator Harvey said, “This successful integration is a testament to Serco’s dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions that keep our warfighters at the forefront of readiness.”

“By seamlessly connecting advanced simulation environments like JSE with our existing training networks, we are ensuring that our Air Force personnel can train in the most realistic and adaptable scenarios possible. This is a crucial step in maintaining our nation’s competitive edge in a rapidly evolving global landscape,” Harvey added.

What Is JSE?

JSE is a government-owned facility that provides a high-fidelity, physics-based, simulated environment for warfighter training. It enables simultaneous interactions between manned aircraft simulators and virtual friendly and enemy air and surface platforms.

Serco previously assisted the Department of Defense’s F-35 Joint Program Office with the development, delivery, operation and maintenance of all F-35 training systems, including the JSE, under a $152 million contract awarded in 2022.
