KBR Provides Astronaut Training for Axiom Mission 4 to ISS

KBR provides ISS systems and medical training support for Axiom Mission 4 crew members
KBR has provided critical ISS systems and medical training support to crew members of the Axiom Mission 4 to the International Space Station, launched on June 25.

KBR has revealed that it played a role in facilitating the launch and execution of Axiom Mission 4, or Ax-4, the fourth private astronaut mission to the International Space Station.

Preparing Axiom Mission 4 Crew Members

The company said Wednesday it was tasked with preparing the crew members for the Ax-4 mission, which was launched on June 25. KBR delivered extensive ISS systems and medical training to the four crew members, preparing them for their two-week stay and work aboard the space station.

KBR also provided training support for the previous three Axiom missions. The specialized training falls under the Reimbursable Space Act Agreements with NASA, which draws upon its experience from the Integrated Mission Operations Contract III and Health and Human Performance Contract. KBR integrated four flight controllers into Axiom Space’s mission control center, enabling real-time operational assistance during the mission.

“KBR is proud to continue supporting NASA and commercial partners as we push the boundaries of human space exploration. This milestone marks an exciting step forward that reflects both our growing footprint in the evolving private space sector and our reputation as a trusted partner in human spaceflight operations,” said Mark Kavanaugh, president of defense, intel and space at KBR.
