TurbineOne has formed a partnership with OpenAI to bring artificial intelligence capabilities to military personnel in operational settings. Under the partnership, OpenAI models will be integrated into the secure computing networks that service members rely on during missions, TurbineOne said Wednesday.

The deal follows OpenAI’s September partnership with General Dynamics Information Technology to provide secure AI capabilities to federal agencies.

What Are the Company Leaders’ Views on the Collaboration?

Katrina Mulligan, head of national security partnerships at OpenAI for Government, said frontier AI has substantial potential to assist those safeguarding U.S. national security. She added that the work with TurbineOne will help OpenAI determine how its advanced capabilities can address operational problems facing military personnel in a responsible, secure and effective manner.

Ian Kalin, TurbineOne’s CEO, said future frontline operations demand top-tier frontier AI. He noted that OpenAI continues to extend the limits of the technology, while TurbineOne develops tools that apply those advances for warfighters in their operating environments.

What Is TurbineOne’s Frontline Perception Platform?

TurbineOne’s flagship offering, Frontline Perception, uses machine learning to analyze sensor feeds at the point of collection, detecting and classifying objects of interest. The platform works to enable users without coding expertise or stable connectivity to build, deploy and refine computer vision models tailored to a mission.

How Has TurbineOne Expanded Its Army Work?

In September, the company received an $8.4 million U.S. Army task order to broaden Frontline Perception fielding and advance aided target recognition for Army units. The order builds on a five-year Phase III Small Business Innovation Research indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract potentially worth $98.9 million, awarded in September 2025.

TurbineOne closed a $36 million Series B round led by The General Partnership in May 2025, valuing the company at roughly $300 million.
