Artificial intelligence company TurbineOne recently announced that it had secured an $8.4 million task order from the U.S. Army to expand the use of Frontline Perception, with the effort aimed at advancing aided target recognition capabilities for Army units.
The new task order builds on the company’s ongoing work with the military service, which includes a five-year indefinite-deliver/indefinite-quantity contract potentially worth $98.9 million. That contract was issued in September 2025 and forms part of the Army’s intelligence modernization efforts. A Phase III Small Business Innovation Research award, the IDIQ calls for the delivery and demonstration of Frontline Perception.
What Is Frontline Perception?
Frontline Perception is TurbineOne’s flagship product, a machine learning platform built to process sensor data on-site for the detection and identification of objects of interest. Rather than requiring a coding background or a steady network link, the platform to allow users to construct, host, deploy and adjust their own computer vision models for a given mission.
What Does the New Army Task Order Cover?
The task order calls for TurbineOne to field Frontline Perception at multiple sites and onto a range of unmanned platforms, drones and sensors across different operational settings. Deliverables under the award include integrating the software, securing cybersecurity certification, training users and running hands-on demonstrations of the system.
Work under the task is expected to benefit modernization initiatives like Next Generation Command and Control as well as Army units along the southern U.S. border, in the Western Pacific, the Middle East and at other mission areas.
Commenting on the award, TurbineOne CEO Ian Kalin said, “As the AI toolmakers for frontline warfighters, we believe Soldiers need the freedom to use the best models for the mission, take their data with them, and retrain locally. This award expands that capability across operational theaters and Army modernization efforts.”
