AE Industrial Partners has promoted Chris Aguemon and Bill Strobel to principal, expanding the leadership of its national security investment practice. The private investment firm announced the promotions Tuesday, noting that both executives are based in its Washington, D.C., office.

The promotions follow the executives’ arrival at the firm in 2025 as vice presidents.

What Experience Do the New Principals Bring to AE Industrial?

Aguemon currently serves on the board of directors of Attilius Technologies, a vertically integrated national security intelligence company launched by AE Industrial in August through the acquisition and rebranding of a data intelligence and analytics provider.

Before joining AE Industrial, he served as VP at Arlington Capital Partners, where he oversaw acquisitions in the national security, defense and aerospace sectors. Earlier in his career, he worked in TPG Capital’s Business Services Group and served as an investment banking analyst at Morgan Stanley, advising on mergers and acquisitions, capital raises and corporate carve-outs.

Aguemon served for more than eight years as a U.S. Army Reserve officer, holding command and staff positions. His assignments included commanding Bravo Company of the 319th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, which deployed to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

Strobel sits on the board of CASE, another AE Industrial portfolio company. He previously served as VP at Liberty Strategic Capital, focusing on national security and financial services investments. Before that, he was an investment banking associate at Evercore, where he worked on buy-side and sell-side transactions in the technology, telecommunications, real estate and healthcare industries.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Strobel served seven years as a resource management officer and nuclear submarine officer.

What Did AE Industrial Leadership Say About the Promotions?

David Rowe, co-CEO and managing partner of AE Industrial, said Aguemon and Strobel contribute investment judgment, technical expertise and firsthand military experience to the firm’s national security practice.

“Their perspective has been instrumental in how we evaluate opportunities and support the companies developing technologies critical to national security,” Rowe said.

Kirk Konert, managing partner of AE Industrial, said the executives have expanded the firm’s reach within the national security community, sharpened its investment insight and allowed it to work more closely with its portfolio companies.
