BWX Technologies has appointed Dan Jablonsky, an aerospace and defense industry executive, to its board of directors, effective March 2.

The company said Friday Jablonsky, a two-time Wash100 awardee, will also serve on the board’s audit and finance committee.

BWXT Board Chair Jan Bertsch welcomed the addition of Jablonsky to the board.

Jablonsky’s “deep expertise in space technologies, combined with his perspective as an active CEO leading a high-growth aerospace company, will provide valuable insight as BWXT accelerates its growth in the space and defense sectors,” said Bertsch.

Who Is Dan Jablonsky?

Jablonsky most recently served as CEO and chairman of Ursa Major, a company that develops advanced propulsion systems for defense and space applications.

He previously served as president and chief executive of Maxar Technologies. During his tenure, he oversaw a strategic repositioning of the publicly traded space technology company that culminated in its $6.4 billion acquisition by Advent International.

The U.S. Navy veteran also served as general counsel and president at DigitalGlobe.

The U.S. Naval Academy mechanical engineering graduate earned his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law.

What Does BWXT Do?

BWXT provides nuclear components, fuel and engineering services for U.S. government and commercial clients. The company employs approximately 10,000 people and operates 17 manufacturing facilities worldwide. It also maintains 14 strategic partnerships in support of U.S. and Canadian government programs.

BWXT recently unveiled a digital center in Melbourne, Florida, to support digital transformation initiatives across the company’s defense and nuclear operations.

In January, the company opened a centrifuge manufacturing development facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, to reestablish a domestic uranium enrichment capability to support national security requirements.

The company also won a spot on the Missile Defense Agency’s potential 10-year, $151 billion Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense contract.
