AIA Calls on DoD to Adopt Industry Cyber Standards to Secure Supply Chain; Eric Fanning Quoted
The Aerospace Industries Association has called on the Pentagon to implement the same standards that defense and aerospace companies currently use for cybersecurity to help reduce vulnerabilities in its supply chain, Fifth Domain reported Thursday. "We’re not always seeking less regulation – I know you don’t hear that from industry every day, but [aerospace and defense] has benefited from smart government regulations, often developed with industry,†AIA CEO Eric Fanning told reporters Thursday during a media briefing on the trade group's 2019 agenda.

Cambridge Recommended for ISO Recertification; Kim Harokopus Quoted
Global accreditation body NQA has recommended Cambridge International Systems for an ISO 9001:2015 recertification following an assessment of the latter’s management systems. NQA conducted an external audit of Cambridge’s management systems supporting defense and national security services, Cambridge said Wednesday.

Northrop Wins Air Force Turbine Tech Development Contract
Northrop Grumman has won an eight-year, $20M contract to build, demonstrate and transition turbine propulsion, thermal and power technologies for the U.S. Air Force. CDM Smith has secured a potential $33M contract modification to provide utilities engineering and management services at Naval Facilities Engineering Command installations worldwide. The company will also provide utility master plans, modeling, life cycle and safety hazard analysis, relay coordination, design, documentation, process development, organizational evaluation, risk assessment, training as well as creation of preventive maintenance plans, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

GE Aviation Lands $87M Navy Contract to Repair Aircraft Generator Parts
General Electric's aviation business has secured a potential five-year, $87.1M contract from the U.S. Navy to repair 33 G2 and G3 generator converter components aboard F/A-18 fighter aircraft. Contract work will run through February 2022 and may extend to two more years if the service exercises the additional option, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

The General Services Administration has introduced on IT Schedule 70 acquisition vehicle a new special item number for wireless mobility platforms to replace the Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative wireless blanket purchase agreements. GSA said Thursday the Wireless Mobility Solutions SIN covers 11 new service categories.
