Kymeta has appointed former CIA senior official Elizabeth Kimber as chief growth officer, transitioning her from the company’s board of advisers to an executive role.

The Redmond, Washington-based company said Monday the appointment supports its continued expansion in the defense and intelligence sectors.

Who Is Elizabeth Kimber?

Kimber most recently served as vice president of intelligence community strategy at Two Six Technologies, where she helped advance the company’s software and technical services for defense and intelligence clients.

She concluded her 37-year CIA career as deputy director for operations, responsible for the agency’s global foreign human intelligence and covert action operations. Her other CIA leadership roles included acting deputy director of the agency, assistant director for Europe and Eurasia, deputy director of the National Clandestine Service and chief of the Special Operations Department at the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center. She also completed 18 years of field assignments, including service as chief of station and representative of the director of national intelligence.

Kimber also serves on MANTECH‘s board of directors and is a senior fellow at the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

What Will Kimber Do at Kymeta?

Kimber will help Kymeta leverage its technology and expertise to address customer requirements. Kymeta President and CEO Manny Mora said she will be responsible for strengthening strategic partnerships and building closer relationships within the national security sector.

Mora added that Kimber’s insight into evolving mission requirements will be “invaluable as we continue to expand our presence within the U.S. Department of War.”

“In national security operations, secure, resilient and reliable connectivity is a mission-critical necessity,” Kimber said.

She noted that working closely with Kymeta over the past two years has shown her the potential of its metamaterials technology to address communications challenges facing the defense and intelligence communities.
