The Defense Contract Management Agency, or DCMA, has placed three DTC software-defined mobile ad hoc network radios on its Blue List Framework. DTC, a Codan subsidiary based in Ashburn, Virginia, said Monday the listing covers its BluSDR-6, BluSDR-30 and BluSDR-90-UL models.
What Is the DCMA Blue List Framework?
The DCMA Blue List Framework is the government’s catalog of uncrewed aircraft system components that meet National Defense Authorization Act requirements. The Defense Innovation Unit launched the Blue List in 2020 to screen commercial drone technology on an ongoing basis. The DCMA took over the effort from DIU in late 2025. The list gathers compliant uncrewed systems and parts cleared for federal purchase and use. Its framework segment catalogs qualifying hardware and software for agencies and industry. DCMA has since streamlined vendor onboarding through a portal introduced in December 2025.
What Capabilities Do DTC’s BluSDR Radios Offer?
BluSDR is a family of software defined radios that work to provide up to extra-long-range communication capabilities and whose models come in various sizes. The smallest model, the BluSDR-6, weighs about 26 grams and reaches roughly 6 kilometers. The radios run DTC’s MeshUltra waveforms, which carry high-throughput video, voice and IP data for command-and-control links with aerial, ground and maritime vehicles.
“BluSDR is more than a single radio — it is a scalable communications architecture that allows integrators to match size, power, range and packaging to the platform while maintaining a common MANET IP Mesh foundation,” said Matt Middaugh, DTC’s vice president of unmanned systems and defense.
The Blue List inclusion follows the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s validation of DTC’s MESH SDR Cryptography Module to Federal Information Processing Standard 140-3 Level 2. The module supports AES-128 and AES-256 encryption, along with SHA2-256 hashing and HMAC-SHA2-256 message authentication.
In June, DTC won a five-year Army contract for resilient communications and mesh networking. That award came a month after the company acquired Adaptive Dynamics, an anti-jamming technology developer.
