Dragos Public Sector, or DPS, has named its board of directors, which includes former U.S. cyber and defense officials, and has expanded its extended operational technology, or xOT, cybersecurity capabilities. The Dragos subsidiary said Tuesday it has also confirmed its general manager and tapped Accenture Federal Services, or AFS, as a strategic go-to-market partner.

Who Is On the Dragos Public Sector Board?

The company’s six-member board has three outside directors, including former National Security Agency Cybersecurity Director and two-time Wash100 Award winner Rob Joyce, retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Maria Barrett, former commander of Army Cyber Command, and Tim Conway, a SANS fellow and technical director of the industrial control systems and supervisory control and data acquisition programs at the SANS Institute.

Robert Lee, chairman and CEO of Dragos, and David Fitch, Accenture’s Americas cybersecurity lead, serve as inside directors. DPS General Manager Daniel Dorchinsky holds the board’s officer director seat.

Lee said the board brings together experience in military cyber operations, industrial control systems security and federal cybersecurity services. He said its oversight will help ensure DPS meets government security requirements.

“Protecting extended operational technology is a national security mission, and the governance of the companies doing that work is critical,” Lee said.

Dorchinsky said federal xOT environments require security tools designed specifically for those systems rather than technologies adapted from information technology.

How Will Accenture Federal Services Support DPS?

Accenture Federal Services will offer DPS’ technology and services to federal civilian, defense, law enforcement and intelligence agencies through its channel, systems integration and reseller partners, as well as public sector distributor Carahsoft. Accenture holds a majority stake in Dragos following a transaction valued at approximately $4.2 billion that also covered the acquisitions of runZero and NetRise.

What Cybersecurity Capabilities Has DPS Added?

DPS’ expanded cybersecurity offerings address asset exposure, software supply chain risks and remediation of connected devices. The capabilities, added following the company’s acquisitions of Phosphorus, NetRise and runZero, include identifying assets outside sensor-monitored operational technology networks and examining compiled software and firmware at the binary level.

The expanded offerings come ahead of two federal cybersecurity deadlines. Agency logging plans under Office of Management and Budget Memorandum M-26-14 must reach OMB and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency by Nov. 18. CISA Binding Operational Directive 26-04 reaches full operationalization on Dec. 7, with requirements that include continuous exposure tagging and tiered remediation.
