ExOne to Deliver Self-Contained 3D Printing Pod to DOD
The Department of Defense has awarded ExOne a $1.6 million contract to create a 3D printing facility capable of additively manufacturing replacement and spare parts from metal, ceramic or composite materials while operating in a shipping container. ExOne said Tuesday it will provide a self-contained 3D printing setup that would allow the military to produce parts based on digital files or 3D scanned equipment in less than 48 hours to cut manufacturing time and lessen costs.

The Defense Information Systems Agency has awarded Leidos a sole-source contract to support the modernization of the U.S. Army's command-and-control system for fires support in order for the platform to keep pace with the Department of Defense’s operational needs, including Joint All Domain Command and Control and sensor-to-shooter frameworks. A justification and approval notice published Thursday says the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System 7 modernization effort requires a shift in the current contract strategy from block development, which needs a regional fielding approach, to a code conversion effort.Â

Westech Wins Army Test Data Management Support Contract
Westech International will help the U.S. Army collect and process data from operational or field testing activities under a five-year, $58.8 million contract. USMC Exercises $184M Option on BAE Amphibious Combat Vehicle Production Contract
The U.S. Marine Corps has exercised a $184 million contract option to procure additional amphibious combat vehicles from BAE Systems, increasing the number of ACV full-rate production units ordered by the branch to 72. “The ACV was designed to meet the Marines’ needs of today while allowing for growth to meet future mission role requirements," said John Swift, director of amphibious programs at BAE.
