AV has secured an $80.5 million purchase order from Joint Interagency Task Force 401, or JIATF-401, to deliver its Titan MS counter-unmanned aircraft system, or C-UAS, in support of the Department of War’s Domestic Shield program.

AV said Tuesday the award will be executed under the company’s recently announced $500 million sole-source indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract supporting JIATF-401’s Domestic Shield program.
Under the purchase order, AV will provide Titan MS systems to strengthen the U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command’s layered air defense against threats posed by small unmanned aircraft systems. The company said the award builds on JIATF-401’s earlier procurement of a Titan counter-UAS system.
The defense technology company rebranded from AeroVironment to AV following its acquisition of defense technology firm BlueHalo in May 2025.
What Is Domestic Shield?
Domestic Shield is a DOW initiative that aims to strengthen counter-UAS protection for defense critical infrastructure and other high-priority homeland defense sites.
According to AV, JIATF-401 leads the effort by prioritizing locations based on threat, vulnerability, criticality and mission requirements. The task force also works with the military services and interagency partners to align resources, validate requirements and speed up the deployment of layered C-UAS capabilities.
What Is Titan MS?
Titan MS is an AI-powered, multisensor fusion system designed to detect, identify, track, defeat and report unmanned system threats.
The platform combines AI and machine learning algorithms with multiple sensors to counter both radio frequency-controlled and autonomous drones across ground, air and maritime environments. AV said Titan products are integrated into multiple DOW programs of record as well as programs supporting other U.S. government agencies and international partners.
What Did AV Officials Say About the Contract Award?
Wahid Nawabi, chairman, president and CEO of AV, said counter-UAS is now a defining operational imperative in modern defense.
“This milestone award and the unprecedented demand we are seeing for Titan mark a historic turning point, as customers move decisively toward proven, fielded solutions that can be rapidly deployed at scale to protect civilians, servicemembers and critical assets against increasingly sophisticated drone threats,” added Nawabi, a 2026 Wash100 Award winner.
Trace Stevenson, president of autonomous systems at AV, said the company continues refining the software-defined Titan family using customer feedback and operational experience. He added that the JIATF-401 award demonstrates Titan’s ability to deliver mission-ready performance for demanding base defense environments.
