Thales Defense & Security Inc., or TDSI, and its subsidiaries have achieved enterprise-wide Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Level 2 certification, the company announced on LinkedIn Thursday.
Why Does CMMC Level 2 Certification Matter?
The certification validates the ability of TDSI and its subsidiaries, Tampa Microwave, Advanced Acoustic Concepts and Trusted Cyber Technologies, to secure controlled unclassified information, or CUI, while supporting defense programs and customers that require CMMC Level 2 compliance. The achievement also reflects the maturity of the company’s enterprise cybersecurity, IT and compliance capabilities.
According to TDSI, only about 2,000 organizations have attained CMMC Level 2 certification, while 80,000 are expected to comply with the Department of War’s cybersecurity requirements.
How Does CMMC Level 2 Benefit Defense Contractors?
CMMC Level 2 certification enables contractors to pursue DOW opportunities involving CUI by demonstrating compliance with the department’s cybersecurity standards. Because only certified companies are eligible to compete for covered contracts, the designation can strengthen a contractor’s competitive position.
Beyond contract eligibility, the certification helps safeguard sensitive information and intellectual property from cyberthreats and strengthens the resilience of the defense industrial base against attacks by nation-state adversaries.
The certification comes as TDSI continues to expand its support for U.S. defense customers. In June, the U.S. Army selected the company’s Radio Adaptable Transport platform for its Low Cost Data Architecture tactical communications modernization initiative, placing an initial order for more than 5,000 systems.
