Detroit Defense has received a five-year contract from the U.S. Navy to provide sustainment and modernization support services for aviation maintenance systems used by the Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps.

The company said Thursday the contract, awarded by Naval Air Systems Command through Program Management Activity 260, has a base value of $17.5 million and a potential ceiling of $36 million.
What Is the Scope of the Navy Contract?
Detroit Defense will provide ongoing product support for the Standard Portable Electronic Maintenance Aid Cyber Solution, or SPECS, 2.5.
The company’s work will include delivering monthly security and maintenance packages; implementing cybersecurity compliance updates and risk mitigation measures; and performing software patching, upgrades and system optimization. The contractor will also handle configuration management, update technical documentation and support integration with Navy logistics applications and other NAVAIR data systems.
Detroit Defense CEO Pete Roney said the contract, which has a one-year base term and four option years, reflects the company’s commitment to advancing mission-critical technologies that support warfighter readiness.
What Is SPECS 2.5?
SPECS 2.5 is an IT platform designed to enable secure, standardized aviation maintenance operations across garrison and operational environments.
SPECS standardizes software, hardware and security configurations for Portable Electronic Maintenance Aids operating across wireless, wired and Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services infrastructures.
“By sustaining and modernizing SPECS, we are helping ensure that aviation maintainers have reliable, cutting-edge tools wherever they operate,” Roney noted.
