IT services provider DirectViz Solutions has appointed John Epperly, most recently chief operating officer, as CEO.
In a LinkedIn post announcing the appointment, DVS said Epperly will be responsible for sustaining operational execution, strengthening partnerships with customers and driving the company’s strategic growth priorities.
The appointment is part of a planned leadership transition intended to support business continuity and long-term growth.
“John has a deep understanding of our customers, our operations, and our people,” said Vinnie Tran, chairman of the board at DVS.
Tran added that the transition is intended to position the company to continue delivering consistent support while building on its existing foundation.
Who Is John Epperly?
Epperly is a retired U.S. Army and Army National Guard major general with over three decades of military and business leadership experience.
In 2023, he joined DVS as COO. In this capacity, he managed corporate services, financial performance and client delivery operations across government and commercial programs.
He held senior leadership positions at several companies, including Booz Allen Hamilton, Elbit Systems of America, Coalfire, MCI Telecommunications and Audley Consulting Group.
He served for more than 36 years in the Army and the Army National Guard. His military career included command of the 29th Infantry Division, multiple combat deployments and senior advisory roles at the National Guard Bureau and with the Office of the Secretary of the Army.
The West Point graduate holds an MBA in finance from Drexel University and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College. He is also a certified Project Management Professional.
Epperly said he is honored to serve as chief executive of DVS.

Founded in 2012, the Vienna, Virginia-based company holds positions on several government procurement vehicles, including the General Services Administration’s Multiple Award Schedule, the Army Information Technology Enterprise Solutions-3 Services and the Missile Defense Agency’s Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense contract.
