HII Mission Technologies has been awarded a position on the Missile Defense Agency’s potential 10-year, $151 billion Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense, or SHIELD, contract vehicle.

What Is the Purpose of the SHIELD Contract?
The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity SHIELD contract aims to accelerate competition for task orders and delivery of advanced homeland defense capabilities to the warfighter, HII said Tuesday. The contract positions HII to deliver technologies supporting data and cyber operations, directed energy, integrated command and control, microelectronics, spectrum management, logistics, sustainment, and live, virtual and constructive training environments.

MDA has awarded SHIELD contract positions to more than 2,100 companies to date. The initial tranche covered 1,014 firms, followed by a second group of 1,086.
