Melissa Hathaway, a senior adviser at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, will participate in a United Nations University-hosted conversation on cybersecurity to be held on Oct. 4 in Tokyo, Japan.

Hathaway will discuss the current cybersecurity landscape and establishment of a universal framework for voluntary norms of behavior in cyber space with David Malone, UNU rector, the university said in an events notice.

Hathaway is president of Hathaway Global Strategies and previously led cybersecurity policy initiatives under the administration of President Barack Obama and President George W. Bush.

She also takes part in Project Minerva, a joint initiative of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that seeks to generate strategy and policy frameworks to determine opportunities and evaluate threats in cyber space in support of national security efforts.
