Lockheed Martin is set to host a computer programming contest on April 18 for hundreds of high school students.
Participants will be divided into novice and advanced teams and and tasked to complete a series of coding challenges within two and a half hours, Lockheed said Thursday.
The Code Quest challenge is part of the company’s effort to promote science, technology, engineering and math careers among the youth.
“Code Quest is our opportunity to inspire and help prepare the next generation of programmers, innovative thinkers and problem solvers,†said Anne Mullins, Lockheed Martin chief information officer.
Lockheed’s information technology professionals will assist the students during the event set to take place in Georgia, New York, Colorado, California, Florida, Washington metro area and Texas.
The students will use the Java computer programming language during the contest.
