Parsons has received a $40M contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide mine-resistant ground vehicles to support the service branch’s efforts to deploy a laser-based system for clearing airfields of mines and unexploded weapons.

The contract covers the manufacture and delivery of 13 Recovery of Airbase Denied by Ordnance platforms which will be equipped with Parsons’ ZEUS laser technology, C4ISRnet reported Saturday.

Aside from the three-kilowatt laser system, RADBO will also include elements of the Cougar Mine Resistant Ambush Protected mobility vehicle.

Parsons will additionally supply three spare RADBO units as part of the sole-source award.

Hector Cuevas, executive vice president of missile defense and C5ISR at Parsons, said in a statement obtained by the publication that the company is “proud to partner with the Air Force” in deploying RADBO to help improve airmen's safety during explosive ordnance disposal activities.

Parsons will perform contract work in Huntsville, Alabama, through September 2023.
