Mocana has been awarded a $1.5M contract to develop a cybersecurity technology for embedded military systems through the second phase of the U.S. Air Force’s Small Business Innovation Research program.

The company said Tuesday it aims to help the service branch protect a chain of custody, maintain data integrity and avoid cyberattacks on military electronics.

“Vulnerabilities in the digital supply chain pose a real threat to the reliability and operational availability of mission-critical technology, in both defense and civilian infrastructure,” said Dave Smith, president of Mocana.

The service branch partnered with its AFWERX organization and AF Research Laboratory to create innovation opportunities for smaller contractors via the SBIR process

According to Mocana, its patented technology seeks to protect devices being used in various sectors such as government,  health care, transportation, manufacturing and telecommunications.
