John Stewart, former senior vice president and chief security and trust officer at Cisco, has been appointed chairman of the board of directors of data security technology provider CyVolve.

He brings more than three decades of information technology and cybersecurity experience to his new board leadership position, CyVolve said Tuesday.

Stewart spent 17 years with Cisco where he led its security and trust organization that supports government customers worldwide. He left the networking hardware vendor in March and established his own company, Talons Ventures.

He is also a board member at SpyCloud, Code Dx and Focal Point Data Risk.

Vienna, Va.-based CyVolve offers an operating system designed to help government agencies, financial institutions and health care providers manage, share and protect data.
