The Defense Logistics Agency has selected Synergetics to create a webscale version of logistics information products in a cloud computing environment.
Tyrone Grandison, a more than two-decade industry veteran, has joined technology and creative design firm U.Group as vice president of data. U.Group said Wednesday Grandison will bring to the role his 26 years’ experience in data, security, privacy and software engineering to help the firm’s federal and industry clients address complex challenges through the use of data.
The Department of Homeland Security has called on industry to help determine information technology services necessary to modernize computing and storage platforms, transition applications to a cloud-based infrastructure and optimize data centers.
Steven Demetriou, chairman and CEO of Jacobs Engineering Group, told Bloomberg in a video interview aired Thursday that he sees robust funding of state and local government agencies for infrastructure. He said most of the new governors prioritize infrastructure and funding has been unleashed across several areas such as transportation, airports, water and railways.

ECS has been named prime awardee on a potential six-year, $38M contract to manage the FBI’s two cybersecurity programs. Raj Mellacheruvu, formerly vice president and chief operating officer of 1st Detect, has been promoted to president and CEO of the Astrotech subsidiary. He succeeds CEO Thomas Pickens, who will continue to serve as 1st Detect's board chairman, Astrotech said Tuesday.
