accenture_ExecutiveBizAccenture has picked two student teams from the University of Michigan and University of Pennsylvania as winners of the company’s management consulting and innovation contest.

The contest challenged students to create digital tools and strategies for helping nonprofit organizations provide social services and improve the quality of life of youth and poor families, Accenture said Wednesday.

More than 1,200 college students across the U.S. participated and experienced hands-on consulting work during the three-part competition in 2013.

“The convergence of technologies and societal trends, especially in mobility, social media and analytics, are creating opportunities for leading nonprofit organizations, such as Goodwill and Usher’s New Look, to increase their impact and effectiveness,” said Marty Rodgers, managing director of Accenture Federal Services.

Members of the winning teams have been offered summer internship jobs at Accenture and will deliver pro-bono consulting services to Usher’s New Look and Goodwill Industries International.
