SES Space & Defense Adds Joanne Isham to Board

SES Space & Defense has appointed Joanne Isham, a retired CIA senior executive, as a member of its board of directors.

The company said Monday Isham joins Billy Bingham, CEO of BB Technical Solutions, and Roger Teague, a retired U.S. Air Force major general, on the board.

“Joanne is a remarkable leader whose strategic insight, technical expertise and distinguished career across national security missions make her an exceptional addition to our board,” said SES Space & Defense President and CEO David Broadbent, adding, “Her perspective will strengthen our ability to support government and defense partners with secure, resilient satellite communications.”

Who Is Joanne Isham?

Isham has decades of senior leadership experience in the U.S. intelligence community and national security sector. 

She has held various leadership roles at the CIA, including deputy director for science and technology and director of congressional affairs. She also played a key role in establishing the agency’s nonprofit venture capital arm, In-Q-Tel.

Isham previously served as deputy director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and director of legislative affairs at the National Reconnaissance Office.

After she retired from government, she joined BAE Systems as senior vice president of network systems. She also served as chief operating officer of High Performance Technologies and SVP of Washington operations at L-1 Identity Solutions, where she led the implementation of the company’s federal market strategy.

The University of Notre Dame graduate serves as president of national security advisory firm Isham Associates.
