Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, formerly president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, has been appointed to Intel’s board of directors.

“Risa knows how to lead a large organization tackling complex issues, and brings extensive public-company board experience,” Intel Chairman Andy Bryant said in a statement published Monday.

Lavizzo-Mourey has been with the University of Pennsylvania since January as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation PIK professor of population health and health equity and currently sits on the boards of General Electric and Hess Corp.

She is a member of the board of fellows at Harvard Medical School, Smithsonian Institution’s board of regents and of the National Academy of Medicine.

Lavizzo-Mourey previously served as a director at Beckman Coulter and Genworth Financial.

Bryant, chairman of Intel since May 2012, has been nominated for re-election to the company’s board to continue to serve as chairman through 2019 and streamline the integration of new directors.

He is set for re-election at the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting.
