Dr. Ray O. Johnson, formerly chief technology officer and senior vice president at Lockheed Martin, has joined Washington-based quantum computing analytics firm QxBranch as a member of the board of directors.

“He brings deep insight into the underlying technology, the strategic needs of our customers and research partners, and relationships at the top level of corporations and governments globally,” Michael Brett, CEO of QxBranch, said Wednesday.

Johnson said in an interview published on the company’s website that he aims to help the QxBranch leadership team to develop strategies intended to grow the company’s investor and customer base in the quantum information technology market.

“I believe quantum computers will help solve some of the biggest problems facing the world, and I like being part of making that happen,” he added.

In the interview, he also noted that he has led Lockheed’s efforts to develop quantum computing architectures in collaboration with the University of Southern California during his tenure at Lockheed.
