Bill Tart, formerly director of the U.S. Air Force‘s remotely piloted aircraft division, has joined ASRC Federal as director of the company’s unmanned aerial systems initiative.
Tart holds more than 24 years of experience with Air Force programs and led the branch’s UAS programs in his previous role there, ASRC Federal said Thursday.
“Bill’s extensive experience providing oversight to multiple UAS programs positions our organization to deliver a broad spectrum of unmanned systems service offerings to our civil and defense customers,†said Mark Gray, ASRC Federal president and CEO.
Gray also cited Tart’s experience as a MQ-1 Predator pilot and operational commander.
Tart joins the company nearly six months after the Federal Aviation Administration selected Fairbanks, Alaska and five other sites for research and testing of UAS  technology as the agency pushes to integrate unmanned vehicles into civilian airspace.
