General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, or GDOTS, is close to finishing a new solid rocket motor production campus in Camden, Arkansas. The General Dynamics business unit said Monday it did not build the site for a single program but designed the campus around core motor capabilities so that the facility can serve multiple customers and scale output as requirements change.
“GDOTS has purpose-built this campus to deliver the flexible and scalable solid rocket motor manufacturing capacity our customers need as demand grows and requirements accelerate,” said Chris Haynes, senior vice president and general manager at GDOTS.
“With our facility nearing full operational readiness, we are preparing to produce and deliver a wide range of reliable, high‑quality SRMs at scale,” Haynes added.
How Does the Camden Facility Support Lockheed Martin’s GMLRS?
General Dynamics’ Camden facility is meant to support the production of SRMs that will go into Lockheed Martin’s Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System, or GMLRS, in line with a partnership agreement between the two companies announced in 2024.
Commenting on the partnership, Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, said at the time that a robust motor supply chain is critical to the company’s 21st Century Security vision.
Which Other Companies Are Expanding in Camden?
Aerojet Rocketdyne, a segment of L3Harris Technologies, also operates in Camden. In 2024, it began building a 65,000-square-foot facility there to bring Javelin, Stinger and GMLRS propulsion production under one roof. A $215.6 million cooperative agreement with the Department of War backs the project.
