Sumeet Shrivastava, president and CEO of Unissant, has been elected rector of George Mason University’s board of visitors, giving him a two-year term as the head of the university’s 16-member governing board.
According to a press release received in advance by GovCon Wire, Shrivastava will lead the board as George Mason develops its next strategic plan. Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger appointed him to the board in January 2026 and board members elected him vice rector in February.
Who Is Sumeet Shrivastava?
Shrivastava is a George Mason alumnus who earned an executive MBA from the university in 1994. He served as president of the George Mason University Alumni Association and chaired the George Mason University Foundation Board of Trustees.
His involvement with the university also includes serving as a founding member of the President’s Innovation Advisory Council, where he joined business executives from companies including Deltek, Dovel Technologies and Verizon to provide guidance on the university’s innovation efforts.
He helped launch the Baroni Center for Government Contracting. He and his family were also instrumental in establishing the Shrivastava Family Success through Entrepreneurship Program, serving as lead donors for the initiative, which supports entrepreneurs building businesses in Northern Virginia.
What Is Shrivastava’s Professional Background?
Shrivastava has more than three decades of experience in the government IT industry. He became Unissant’s president and CEO in 2024, overseeing the company’s national security and federal health work. He spent nearly 13 years at ARRAY, where he served as president and CEO and led the company through its sale to CGI Federal.
The government technology executive previously served as senior vice president for public sector and managing director of federal business at Keane, which NTT DATA acquired in 2010.
Shrivastava spent over eight years at ANSTEC early in his career. He held multiple leadership roles, including executive VP, chief operating officer, chief financial officer and senior finance and pricing analyst.
