PsiQuantum and Lockheed Martin have partnered to advance the development of quantum computing innovations to address challenges in national security, defense and aerospace.

How Will PsiQuantum & Lockheed Martin Advance Quantum Computing?

Under a memorandum of understanding, the joint effort will develop quantum algorithms for aerospace and defense applications supporting the U.S. government and its allies, PsiQuantum said Monday. The collaboration will support PsiQuantum’s work on building the first utility-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computers and utilizing its Construct software platform to design and optimize quantum algorithms.

Utility-scale quantum computing could enhance modeling and simulation in aerospace and defense. Applications like quantum chemistry simulations and partial differential equations, or PDEs, can enhance the modeling of chemical and physical systems, including fluid dynamics, propulsion, heat transfer, stress-strain behavior and quantum mechanical interactions. Fault-tolerant quantum computing is expected to boost the accuracy of these simulations, enabling more reliable aircraft and defense system operations.

What Did PsiQuantum’s Mark Brunner Say About the Partnership?

According to Mark Brunner, executive vice president for public sector at PsiQuantum, the partnership integrates PsiQuantum’s quantum applications and deployment technologies with Lockheed Martin’s aerospace and defense capabilities.

“Real, useful quantum computing will begin transforming the aerospace industry in a few short years and now is the time for companies to prepare to seize the fullest potential of this technology,” said Brunner.
