SiemensLogoSiemens has given a $79 million in-kind software grant to a technology and engineering school in India to help students build a digital design, validation and digital manufacturing center of excellence, The Times of India reported Thursday.

Siemens’ plan with the Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering would be the first of its kind in Karnataka, a state in south west India, the newspaper report.

The center of excellence is scheduled to be operational by July and the company intends for students to product lifecycle management software such as NX, Tecnornatix and Fibersim.

Suman Bose, Siemens PLM Software vice president and managing director, and MITE President Rajesh Chouta signed the pact for the arrangement.
