Collins Aerospace Concludes Critical Design Review for Navy Airborne Training Tech

Collins Aerospace has cleared a critical design review for its updated version of an airborne training platform designed to secure tactics and provide realism during flight exercises.

The Tactical Combat Training System will work to accommodate fourth and fifth generation aircraft units and integrate new threats and missions into training simulations, the company said Tuesday.

Rockwell Collins received a potential $142.4M contract in 2017 from the U.S. Navy to update TCTS prior to the firm’s acquisition by United Technologies. Collins Aerospace used an open architecture framework to enable the tool in adapting potential technology insertions.

“The new system will bring a heightened sense of realism to train our service men and women to be better prepared for emerging threats and situations,” said Nick Gibbs, vice president and general manager of simulation and training solutions at Collins Aerospace.
