U.S. Marines to Adopt Raytheon Naval Strike Missile Tech - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Raytheon has secured a $47.5M other transaction agreement to supply the U.S. Marine Corps with a missile system designed to engage sea and land targets at a long range.

The company said Tuesday it will help the military service incorporate the Naval Strike Missile weapon into the branch’s force structure in support of USMC modernization goals and the National Defense Strategy.

NSM was developed through a partnership between Raytheon and Norway-based defense company Kongsberg.

“This fifth-generation missile adds another dimension for sea control operations and for protection from adversary warships,” said Kim Ernzen, vice president of air warfare systems at Raytheon.

The OTA comes nearly a year after the company received an $847.6M contract to produce an “over the horizon” weapon system for littoral combat ships and future frigates of the U.S. Navy.
