Rockwell Collins ESA Vision Systems, a joint venture between Collins Aerospace and Elbit Systems of America, has delivered the 1,000th unit of a helmet mounted display system built for F-35 pilots.
The device is designed to help users see in low-light conditions and offers them information about airspeed, altitude and heading to obtain situational awareness, Collins Aerospace said Wednesday.
ESA Vision Systems delivered its first HMD technology to Lockheed Martin and the Department of Defense's the F-35 Joint Program Office a decade ago. The aircraft works to gather, analyze and distribute combat data to land and air-based assets through the use of advanced sensor systems.
Collins Aerospace and Elbit Systems' U.S. arm intend to rename their JV to Collins Elbit Vision Systems and both parties aim to finalize the name change process later this year.
