The Trump administration has partnered with NVIDIA, semiconductor manufacturer AMD and the National Science Foundation-sponsored National Center for Atmospheric Research Wyoming Supercomputer Center in an effort to leverage high-performance computing to aid COVID-19 research.

Several U.S. government, commercial and academic organizations have vowed to provide high-performance computing resources to support COVID-19 research and development efforts worldwide through a newly formed public-private consortium.

The White House on Wednesday called on technology companies to help the government in its campaign against the new coronavirus, The Hill reported Wednesday. “The White House's top priority is ensuring the safety and health of the American people amid the COVID-19 outbreak," Michael Kratsios, U.S. chief technology officer and a 2020 Wash100 award winner, said during a phone call Wednesday. "Cutting edge technology companies and major online platforms will play a critical role in this all-hands-on-deck effort."
