Dennis Eger, a retired U.S. Army sergeant major and former senior intelligence adviser, has been named director of Alexandria, Virginia-based consulting firm Aptive Resources. The 32-year Army veteran will support the service-disabled, veteran-owned company's efforts to grow presence in the intelligence and national security markets, Aptive said Thursday.

The Demonstration and Science Experiments satellite of the Air Force Research Laboratory performed the first space-to-space very low frequency transmission within three months of its launch during a coordinated experiment with the Japanese Space Agency's Arase spacecraft. The DSX satellite launched in June 2019 to study the interactions of space plasma, radiation belts and radio waves in near-Earth space.

Adaptive Launch Solutions, a satellite integrator and multi-manifest hardware provider, has agreed to conduct launch services with Firefly Aerospace's launch vehicle in response to small satellite demands from government operators and commercial owners. Firefly said Wednesday its Alpha rocket will be used in four ALS-led smallsat launches starting 2021 under a multi-year agreement.

Nicolas Fischbach, global chief technology officer at Forcepoint, wrote in a guest piece published Friday on Nextgov that government agencies should prioritize data visibility and data loss prevention as they head into 2021. He said agencies should determine how employees and other users interact with government data through user activity monitoring with the aid of behavioral analytics to better detect compromised accounts and malicious actors.

Affigent, an Akima subisidiary; and Qmulos, a cybersecurity company, have partnered to help the federal government comply with security requirements and keep pace with growing issues.
