The U.S. Navy's newest guided-missile destroyer sailed away from a Huntington Ingalls Industries construction yard in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Friday for the ship's Mayport, Florida, home base.

USS Delbert D. Black, which is designated as DDG 119, is built with the Aegis naval weapons system and designed to support multiple U.S. military operations, HII said Friday.

The company secured a $936M Navy contract in June to build an additional Arleigh Burke-class destroyer.

HII's Ingalls Shipbuilding division has handed 32 destroyers over to the service branch to date and is constructing the branch's future Frank E. Petersen Jr., Jack H. Lucas, Lenah H. Sutcliffe Higbee and Ted Stevens vessels.
