Jacobs has elected Vincent Brooks, a retired U.S. Army general, to its board of directors, the company announced Monday.

“We are excited to welcome Vince Brooks to Jacobs’ Board of Directors. His exceptional leadership capabilities – proven in command of large, complex organizations in challenging situations around the world – as well as his focus on cyber and national security, align directly with Jacobs’ high priority growth markets,” said Steve Demetriou, chair and CEO at Jacobs.

Brooks’ areas of expertise ranging from leadership in complex organizations, inclusion and diversity, national security, international relations, military operations, combating terrorism and countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Brooks, a career officer, served in the U.S. Army for more than four decades, and retired from active duty in 2019. Prior to his retirement, Brooks was the commander of the Korean and United States forces in the Republic of Korea.

He previously served as the commanding general of U.S. Army Pacific. He also served as the commanding general of Third Army before joining the U.S. Army Pacific. Brooks was the U.S. central command deputy director of Operations during the War in Iraq.

In addition, Brooks held the position of chief of Army Public Affairs The Pentagon and was the deputy commander of 1st Cavalry Division in Baghdad, and after his term, Brooks became the commanding general of the same division. Brooks was later commanding general of the 1st Infantry Division.

Brooks currently serves on the boards of Diamondback Energy, the Gary Sinise Foundation and the Korea Defense Veterans Association. Additionally, Brooks is a principal with WestExec Advisors.

He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations; a visiting Senior Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs; a Distinguished Fellow at the University of Texas, with both the Clements Center for National Security and also the Strauss Center for International Security and Law; and an Executive Fellow with the Institute for Defense and Business.
