HPE Uses AI, Supercomputing to Help Researchers Develop COVID-19 Vaccine - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is using high-performance computing to address the world’s need for a COVID-19 vaccine.

The company said Tuesday it has partnered with researchers across the globe to model and simulate potential COVID-19 vaccines with the support of artificial intelligence technology.

These scientists use supercomputers to mathematically model chemical and biological processes possibly needed for the sought vaccine.

Resulting simulations have furthered scientists’ understanding of the virus’ effects on the human body and further develop new ways to address the issue.

HPE also contributes to AI-powered vaccine research at public sector facilities such as the Department of Energy’s Argonne and Lawrence Livermore national laboratories.

“By using machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to screen for drugs across multiple target proteins in the virus, we may have a better pathway to an antiviral drug,” said Arvind Ramanathan, a computational biologist with Argonne National Laboratory.
