The U.S. Air Force’s innovation arm has announced nine new industry competitions focused on improving base security and establishing an integrated space architecture.

AFWERX said in a statement that it is concurrently running five “Base of the Future” challenges as well as four space-focused competitions.

The Base of the Future challenges encompass areas such as improving base defense and security, increasing the resiliency of military facilities, accelerating technology deployment and supporting airmen and their families.

Selected proposals for the base-focused challenges will be showcased at the 2020 AFWERX Fusion Event in Las Vegas in summer.

Space challenges cover topics such as space asset resiliency, space-based global delivery systems, new payload concepts and a global intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance system.

AFWERX will accept proposals for all nine challenges through May 4.
