The Buyback Wave
 Jack London
|
|
How will you ride it? How will your company or portfolio benefit? Forbes Magazine columnist and money manger, Ken Fisher, talks about how a company’s low yielding cash can be used to retire high yield equity like your company stock. While dividends are nice, many investors feel buying back company stock with profits and available cash is better. Local company CACI International was mentioned by Forbes as a prime example of this investment strategy.
We caught up with Jack London, CACI Chairman, President, and CEO, who commented, “Forbes has locked on to our strategy like a guided missile. Forbes recognizes our strategy to capitalize on a plan for strategic mergers and acquisitions that will contribute to CACI’s long term growth.”

Green. It's on the cover of Fortune, Time, Newsweek, and many others; it's a part of large corporate strategies for giants like Google, Apple, IBM, Booz Allen, Lockheed Martin and hundreds more. The once called green movement has shed it’s “tree hugging” past and found center stage in both mainstream and corporate America as the sustainability. There are also hundreds of thousands of dollars to be saved by corporate America each year by reducing energy costs.
ExecutiveBiz presents an expert panel discussion featuring the esteemed panelists. The discussion will explore energy security, sustainable business, and the many ways companies of every size and shape can benefit from a sustainable approach and much much more! This is a must-attend event for all executives.

Trulia is True Web 2.0
Trulia.com is one of many web 2.0 companies that have discovered success in just a short amount of time. Despite launching less than 20 months ago, Trulia has raised over $17 million, $10 million of which has come from Sequoia Capital alone.
The site allows users to search for homes by zip code, price range, the number of bed and baths, and square feet. Trulia is more than a real estate search engine, however; it is the epitome of web 2.0. If there’s one thing that defines web 2.0, it’s knowledge sharing. Trulia Voices is the site’s online community which lets potential homebuyers ask and answer questions with other homebuyers.
Of course, there are many more features that Trulia offers such as real estate guides which depict a snapshot of average listing prices, average and median sales prices, the average sales price per square foots, and number of sales according to city or state. Other visual tools include a results page with a Google map displaying homes that match your criteria as well as heat maps that illustrate price and popularity trends in different regions across the United States.
With a Trulia account, you can save homes of interest, write notes, and subscribe to email alerts. With email alerts, the service will automatically send updates on the newest listings that fit your needs.
Some of the earlier web 2.0 investments of Sequoia Capital are Google and Youtube. Could Trulia be another win for them?

Get Reviewed on Google Maps
by Ken Yarmosh, Internet Marketing Strategist at Viget Labs
[Republished from from Viget's Four Labs blog]
Did you know that you can essentially get free advertising on Google just by registering your business on Local Business Center? By doing so, your business may rank for local (and relevant) queries on Google via Google Maps.
But that is not all.
Google just rolled out a new feature that allows local businesses to be reviewed too. So, now client X or patron B might throw their two cents about your company into an easily accessible review linked off of Google.com.
That might scare you, encourage you to do better, or be fine because you are sure that people are happy with your business.
Think about it though, would you choose the business with outstanding reviews or the one with nothing to validate it? Similar to soliciting offline customer feedback, Google Map reviews are going to be key for any local business.
In sad news, my favorite Chinese food place in Falls Church - New Dynasty (previously on speed dial) - recently shut down. I wonder what would have happened if it had some reviews?
What do you think? Join the conversation by commenting here.
